ABOUT OUR GATHERING

Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha (KAHĀ) is a gathering rooted in ʻike, relationship, and shared responsibility, convening this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This three-day conference brings together educators, cultural practitioners, and community leaders, including loea and kumu traveling from Hawaiʻi, to engage in learning that honors ʻike Hawaiʻi and its continued relevance in diverse communities. Through dialogue, workshops, and collective exchange, participants are invited into spaces of connection, reflection, and growth grounded in aloha.

More than a conference, Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha is an intentional convening that centers ʻike, kuleana, and the power of coming together, across place and practice, to learn, listen, and lead with care.

Details are forthcoming on this year’s presenters and workshops that will be offered at KAHĀ 2026 in the following areas:

  • Ola Pono (Health & Wellness)

  • Hana No’eau (Handmade Crafts)

  • ‘Ike Hawai’i (Hawaiian Knowledge)

  • Hula (Traditional & Modern Dance)

From the bottom of our hearts, mahalo to everyone who made this year’s Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha (KAHĀ) such a meaningful and successful gathering.

To all of our attendees, thank you for choosing to spend your weekend with us. Your presence, enthusiasm, and willingness to embrace our culture are what make KAHĀ so special. We hope your experience left you with a little piece of our aloha that you will carry with you wherever you go. It is our sincere hope that throughout this weekend, new pilina were created, old friendships were strengthened, and together we experienced the true meaning of laulima—many hands working together with one heart and one purpose.

To our presenters, mahalo nui loa for so generously sharing your ʻike, talents, and lifelong dedication to preserving and perpetuating Hawaiian culture. The sharing of your ʻike is truly invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the time, care, and aloha you poured into each presentation. Your willingness to teach ensures that our traditions continue to flourish for future generations.

To our vendors, mahalo for making our Makeke a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian artistry and craftsmanship. Your beautiful creations, passion, and artisan expertise enriched our event beyond measure. We are honored that you chose to share your talents with our KAHĀ ʻohana.

As we reflect on this year’s gathering, we are reminded that KAHĀ is more than an event—it is a place where aloha is shared, ʻike is exchanged, and our culture is celebrated. Because of each of you, our Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha was a tremendous success.

As we return to our homes and communities, may we remember that it is now our kuleana to mālama the knowledge we have received, to nurture the pilina we have created, and to continue sharing aloha wherever our journeys may lead. In doing so, we ensure that the spirit of KAHĀ lives on long after this weekend has ended.

Until we meet again, may Ke Akua bless you, may your path be filled with aloha, and may we see one another again soon.

Me ka haʻahaʻa a me ke aloha,

Kumu Kanani Cadaoas | Luna Hoʻokele (2026 KAHĀ Conference President)

Through the Lens of Aloha: Joe Dypiangco and the Art of Preserving KAHĀ’s Moments

At the heart of Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha (KAHĀ) is a commitment to ʻike, pilina, and the preservation of culture across generations and geography. While kumu, practitioners, and participants bring ʻike Hawaiʻi to life through practice and presence, there is another essential role quietly shaping how these moments endure: the storyteller behind the lens. For KAHĀ, that storyteller is Joe Dypiangco, the organization’s official photographer.
