KAHĀ Opens Recruitment for Advisory Council

Ka ʻAha Hoʻolauna Aloha (KAHĀ) is inviting cultural practitioners, professionals, community leaders, educators, kūpuna, emerging leaders, and other individuals of ʻike and experience to be considered for service on the KAHĀ Advisory Council.

KAHĀ recognizes that strong organizations are shaped not only by those entrusted with governance, but also by those willing to share their ʻike, experience, relationships, and perspective in service to future generations.

In building the Council, KAHĀ will seek representation across cultural perspectives, professional disciplines, generations, and geographic communities while remaining firmly grounded in Native Hawaiian leadership, values, and ʻike.

Kūlana: The Role of the Advisory Council

The Advisory Council serves exclusively in an advisory capacity, providing cultural wisdom, professional expertise, historical perspective, strategic counsel, and community insight in support of the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Council.

Advisory Council members do not assume governance, fiduciary, supervisory, managerial, or voting authority through their Council service. Governance authority remains exclusively with the KAHĀ Board of Directors.

This distinction allows Council members to contribute meaningfully to KAHĀ while preserving clear lines of governance, accountability, and organizational leadership.

Kuleana: How Advisory Council Members Serve

Members of the Advisory Council may:

  • Advise the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Council in areas where they possess knowledge or expertise.

  • Strengthen relationships between KAHĀ and the communities we serve.

  • Mentor Board Members, executive leaders, staff, volunteers, scholarship recipients, and emerging leaders.

  • Support leadership succession, strategic planning, and organizational continuity.

  • Advance philanthropy, partnerships, and public awareness of KAHĀ.

  • Participate in educational initiatives, organizational projects, and special assignments.

  • Serve as ambassadors for KAHĀ and cultivate relationships that advance our mission.

Together, we can ensure that the wisdom of those who came before us continues to inform the leaders of today and inspire the generations still to come.
